Welcome to my 'AR catalogs'. This is a data repository containing information on vertically-integrated water vapor flux (IVT) and the presence of atmospheric rivers (ARs). As of May 3, 2021, the only reanalysis for which data are available is the NASA MERRA v2 reanalysis at 0.5x0.625 degree resolution. It is possible that others may be available in the future.

The presence of ARs is determined using the methodology of Rutz et al. (2014), which requires a feature with length > 2000 km, no width requirement, and IVT > 250 kg m-1 s-1 throughout the feature. Please note that this method often identifies broad regions of the tropics as being within ARs, and is much better suited to the midlatitudes.
